John Davis Cabin
December 30th, 2008 . by adminWhenever I have looked inside one of the many pioneer cabins that are in the Great Smoky Mountains I try to imagine what it must have been like to live and raise a family there. It seems so stark and void of everything that we often take for granted today. One of the cabins that I have photographed is John Davis’ cabin located in the pioneer farm at the Oconaluftee Visitors center. What makes this cabin so interesting is that it is furnished with a few of the items that could have been there 100 years ago. A four poster bed, a spinning wheel and a few item placed along the mantle. It’s as if someone is still living there and could be walking through the door any moment.
