Cuboid Manipulation

The cuboid is an important small bone on the outside of the foot just in front of the heel bone. It is important as it acts as a pulley for the tendon of the peroneus longus muscle from the outside of the leg. The tendon passes underneath the cuboid bone on its way to the other side of the foot. As it is a pulley, it needs to be very stable. It is no use moving when the muscle contracts. If it does move it can strain the joints around the cuboid. If this does happen, a cuboid manipulation is often needed to put the bone back in its place.

As office manager for a medical practice, one of my responsibilities is to select any software used in the practice.  While all of the practice’s billing is computerized, the patients’ medical records are not.  Now, however, we have to start keeping these records electronically; consequently, I have been reviewing a variety of EMR software to find one that is best suited for our practice’s needs.  I have found one type of record keeping software that I like quite a bit.  It is easily integrated with both our billing and our scheduling software, which should simplify the transition process.  I look forward to being able to use it soon.

I didn’t realize I was collecting Irish Walking Sticks until someone asked me about the few I had. Without realizing it, I guess I had started a small collection. Whenever I run into a place that sells them, I am drawn to them. They are beautiful pieces of handiwork made of blackthorn trees. Blackthorn trees are unique and that could be one reason I like them so much. I am not sure I will ever use them for anything more than adding character to my house, but who knows, someday I may need them. For now, they will decorate the corner of my house that I have designated for them.
