Traditional Surgery to Cure Hemroids

January 7th, 2009 . by admin

There are different classifications of hemroids surgically.  Hemroids is brought about by the congestion of internal and/or external veins around the anal area.  They are classified according to their severity, which is divided into 4 degrees.  The fourth type is the worst kind and almost always requires surgery.

Some people with severe cases of hemroids choose traditional surgery to cure hemroids permanently.

There are actually 2 techniques in performing traditional surgery: the Milligan-Morgan Technique and the Ferguson Technique.

The Milligan-Morgan Technique was developed in the UK by two doctors, Milligan and Morgan, in 1937.  In this technique, excision of the 3 major hemroidal vessels is performed.  This technique is considered to be the most popular method.

The Ferguson Technique, on the other hand, was developed in the States by Dr. Ferguson in 1952.  This technique is just a modification of the Milligan-Morgan
