It is not advisable to use it as a long term treatment since it has toxic side effects on the kidney. It is also very good in helping to diagnose gout in unusal places. Typical gout is easy to diagnoses join the big toe joint. In other joints, especially other foot joints, it is not so easy to diagnose, so often a does or two of Colchicine will tell you if its gout or not. If its gout, then the pain that’s been feeling will just go away faster.
