Fitting into my Spanish Neighborhood
December 30th, 2008 . by adminOne of the things that drew me to my Miami neighborhood was the beautiful Spanish homes and culture. I bought my home and settled in within three months of first seeing it.
But it wasn’t long before I realized that almost all of my neighbors were Hispanic and some didn’t speak English, or speak it very well. Since I wanted to get to know them and to fit in, I invested in a Rocket Spanish course. Within a few weeks I understood conversations and was speaking to my neighborhoods.
It’s been six years since I bought that little house and today I am just one of the neighbors, routinely chattering away with my friends, in Spanish.
