Travel back in time at the Old World Wisconsin Museum

August 12th, 2008 . by admin

The Old World Wisconsin is the largest museum in the world that is dedicated to preserving and educating the public on the historic way of life in a rural environment. It is located close to Eagle, and is a place that you should definitely visit, even if you only have a remote interest in frontier history. The exhibits are interesting, as is the staff, who teaches people about daily life. The entire family will come away with a completely new appreciation for those who lived during those times. Visit the church, watch a lesson at a one-room schoolhouse, and then try out some farming implements at the working farms. Learn a bit about the trades of a wagon repairer, a blacksmith, and a shoemaker, and tour a stagecoach inn. Watch as wool is shorn from a sheep and begins the process by which it becomes clothing, blankets, rugs, and more. You will also see a ton of interesting livestock while at Old World Wisconsin, including oxen, pigs, cows, and chickens. Something else that you don’t want to miss is an old-fashioned baseball game, played the way it was more than one hundred years ago. Everyone will find something fun at Old World Wisconsin.
