Problem was not that they could not talk on telephone problem was that it was costing them too much. However now with invention of voice over internet protocol you can talk to your loved ones at very less amount. If you have a fast internet connection you can easily communicate with your loved ones using voip. It has made life so easy for people that they could not have even imagined in their earlier days. People used to wait for weekends to talk to their loved ones because on weekends call rates were cheaper.
